The Parish Church of St. Andrew - Epworth
The following information is from the Parish records of the Parish Church of St. Andrew - Epworth. Published by Isle of Axholme FHS. The records show:
· No Bramhill Baptisms before 1696
· No Bramhill Marriages before 1708,

No Bramhill Burials before 1719.
Since St. Andrews Church existed from the 1300s and we do have records from the mid-1500s then perhaps we can conclude that Bramhills did not live in Epworth prior to the 1690s. At the moment we do not know exactly when they moved to the area but we do know who and what period. From what we have learned William Bramhill (Bramwell) was born in Owston Ferry (near Epworth). William Bramhill was recorded in the Parish of Owston records as William Bramwell. His son John was born in Owston Ferry, Lincolnshire, and was buried in Epworth at St. Andrews Church. He is listed in the parish records as John Brammill.
However, given that we have two children born to a John and Elizabeth Bramhill and baptised in St. Andrews Church, there may be another family.

No records of Bramhills married in Epworth from 1564 to 1708
The
lack of marriages before 1708 could be explained by the fire - the same fire at
the Rectory in which John Wesley almost lost his life - because all the original
records were transcribed. What is now in the pre-1709 records have been put
together from the Bishop's Transcripts and are incomplete as a result.
The books are interesting because they also show the other families linked to
our ancestors, such as the Crawshaws, Coggans, Olivers and Everatts.
